And here is the second of my Arena Rex Moritui: Ur-kek!
He was a lot of fun to paint. I decided to do the NMM golds as there Morituri have the Egyption aesthetic. The skin tones were 2-3 Browns that I mixed for a gradient. The blue starts as a turquoise with a boy wash and I just highlight up. The blade was a fun experiment. I wanted a stone cleaver look and painted the light effects to show how he had his blade at an angle. I am not going into as much detail in explaining my process as I just have been short on time. Here are the other WIP photos:
Next is Zahra! Stay tuned as I also have my Legio XIII starter in the way!

Painting Arena Rex: Mago
Today I finished another mini, this time from a new game to me, Arena Rex! I picked up most of the Morituri line.
The first I decided to tackle is Mago, the Retiarii (net and trident gladiator).
I did the base first due to the net. I did my stone effect bases of layering feathered greys. I used simple sand (it's an arena) and some stones for accents.
Next I washed the model in Agarax Earthshade and started to paint the flesh. It was my first time painting dark skin tones.
I used a turquoise on the cloth and a red on the spear sash. I washed the turquoise with a blue wash then highlighted up through various mixes of the turquoise and white. The Metal on the chest parts and his helmet were mixes of a mustard and a brown with flesh tones being added in during highlights. The pauldron was similar but used mixes of yellow as well. The iron/steel was blending greys up to nearly white.
The final touches were reds on the trident sash and highlights here and there.
Mago was a lot of fun to paint and I look forward to the rest of my Morituri! Stay tuned for more and as always, feel free to comment!

Tentacles and Siren
Hello everyone! I have jumped back into my Fisherman team for Guild Ball. I have recently acquired the new mascot, Tentacles, and I decided to get him painted up as well as finish Siren. I apologize if descriptions are short and paint names are missing but I am a bit tired and need to hurry and finish this while it is fresh.
Siren I was just happy to get out of the way. I found she is the one Guild Ball model I do not like. Her detail feels a bit muted. But she is done. Moving on...
Now for the happy squid! (I know, he is an octopus)
I started with a white primer and washed the model in blue.
I base-coated with a light blue, GW's Temple Guard Blue. I used a pink on the gills and under the tentacles.
I washed the blue again, but I treated it more as a glaze. I started with an orange on the eyes and started to try little circles, mimicking the rings from certain real octopi. I highlighted the net twice with off-whites.
I continued to highlight the rings, but as I started to imagine the entire model covered, I realized it would take away from the rest of the model so I redid the tentacles. After adding two layers of intermediate orange and yellows, I used a single black line on the eyes.
I highlighted with a sea-green and mixed up a much lighter pink highlight for the gills and suckers. I did some simple greys, brown wash, green highlights on the base. Here is the finished result:
I hope you like the result! Next is Kraken and Greyscales! Stay Tuned!

Bandido #1, Finally Done
Alright so I was derailed from my painting after my dad had an accident and I got sick but now I am back at it! This time I have a member of my newest Malifaux crew. A Bandido from the Fistful of Scrip box. She is the first of the set to get completed. Due to me not really having the patience lately to paint, I really didn't go very extravagant with her detail. The base insert is supposed to be like chaos tentacles and things, but I painted them to be like flowing sand. I decided to go standard brown coat with grey pants and sleeves. I made the bandanna red for a bit of color (I might go back and highlight a bit more if I end of feeling like it). She was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to getting the rest of the crew fully painted!
As a side note... I think I should have made the jacket fade towards the bottom.. oh well :P

Circle Pureblood Warpwolf
Hey everyone!
I just finished my Pureblood Warpwolf!
So I used a lot of the same methods and colors as the Argus but I wanted to stick to the idea of white fur. As a disclaimer, unless otherwise stated, I use Reaper paints. I started by base-coating with Armor Grey. I felt it was too dark so I covered it with a coat of Weathered Stone, which the combination ended up perfect for the start of the layers. I then used different layers of very thin mixes of Weathered Stone and Solid White, changing the ratio each time working up to straight white. I basecoated all the brown areas with Muddy Brown. The armor plates I used Mossy Green as the basecoat.
I just finished my Pureblood Warpwolf!
For the fur patches I used GW Agarax Earthshade wash followed by highlighted Weathered Stone the with solid White as the finish. The brown I scale up with highlights using Leather Brown and Tanned Leather, adding a wash or the Earthshade here and there. The stitches are Golden Blonde.
The green was shaded using mixes between Leaf Green, pale Green, and adding white where needed to highlight.
Next the NMM was done the same way as the Argus. I tried creating some stronger contrast this time. I actually messed up the legs and arms and had to redo them due to my paint being to thick and I didn't mix the shades enough. I used the line I created in the greens to create a single light effect.
The base was the same as the Argus but it came out a lot more uniform, which I didn't like. I used the GW Thraka Green wash, using a brush at an angle to create the line effect.
That is the basics! Let me know if you have any questions and leave any comments! Stay tuned for more soon!
