You also receive several gaming aids. First, they give a thin plastic ruler (fold-able). It isn't very impressive but if you are just starting the game, it works. You have four game dice, assorted generic tokens (used for focus and spells), and you have a card fold-able to create a basic obstacle. You also have a game mat made out of a waxy paper like many posters are made out of. Durable for being paper. Below are pictures of both sides. The first is the side is a basic set up to start playing, the other is another set up but with markings corresponding to the Basic Training booklet.
There are 3 booklets in the box. The first is a Basic Training that gives you a single player scenario to run through using the mat shown above. It walks you through some basic mechanics, even having basic cutouts to use as an "AI" player. The second book is a faction introduction, which matches the starter it is found in (i.e. this is a Circle intro). It gives you a bit of intro fluff as well as tells you a bit about the included models and their play-styles. It also has suggestions for expanding your initial collection. And lastly is the rule-book. It has the core rules and even a bit of the opposite system (Warmachine vs Hordes).
With the Origins special I also got the faction templates shown below:
I hope you found this helpful. I will be assembling and painting the starter set for an upcoming Journeyman league. I will post the battle reports from the league and any tactics and insights I get.
Let me know if you would like to see something change, such as me assemble the minis first! Thanks for tuning in!
